There was Ted Green of the Boston Bruins who wore one after Wayne Maki of the Vancouver Canucks high-sticked and nearly killed him. Stan Mikita of the Chicago Black Hawks had one since the 70's. Butch Goring from the Islanders had one since the 1960's. It wasn't until 1979 when it became mandatory in the NHL. November 1 will be the 50th anniversary of Jacques Plante of the Montreal Canadiens putting on a goaltender's mask and refusing to play without one. Goodbye train map. To get back, it's amazing that the Obama administration which campaigned on a campaign of cleaning up this economic mess, now wants to return back to the same problems that got us in this mess. Just plain Too Big is the problem. That goes for government and regulatory agencies and business. Gov't and agencies: A blames B blames C blames A, and noone is accountable. Business: "We can buy A, B, and C and get them to all collude to let us "slip through the cracks"! Woohoo! Gotta love USG!"
